The State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) is a prestigious organization founded in 1951 in Greece. It aims to provide grants to young scientists for post-graduate studies, both domestically and abroad, with the goal of expanding their knowledge and skills to benefit society.
Since its inception, IKY has developed and administered numerous scholarship programs, offering support to Greek citizens, individuals of Greek origin, people from various nationalities, students, scientists, researchers, and artists. The foundation has played a significant role in helping scholars attain higher qualifications and excel in their academic and professional endeavors.
Beginning in 1987, IKY has taken on the role of managing European Union education programs, such as Erasmus and Lifelong Learning Programme, continuing its tradition of supporting educational opportunities. In 2014, it was designated as the National Agency for the European Union Erasmus+ Programme.
